Five days already. Time flies when you're havin fun.

Kinja'd!!!

*Not my car

Complaints: The brakes squeal occasionally, and I don't know why. In addition to the large C-pillars, the headrests block the quarter windows. I better trust those mirrors.

There is also slight drone between 1500 and 2000 RPM, but what do you expect from a car with no resonators?

Gas mileage: The EPA rates it at 16 city and 25 highway. After the 314th mile, it used nearly all of its 19.5 gallon tank. So, average MPG is 16.1, which is about right in line with the EPA ratings. That's no worse or better than my mom's Acadia. The only highway miles were about 20 on the way back from the dealer. During that trip back, my dad set the cruise control at 70 and 55. The car responded with 26 and 29 MPG respectively. I might be underestimating it, but that's great for a 2 ton, V8-powered car. I wasn't even driving like a grandma either.

Perception: So far, 13 friends have seen it, and they all love it, male and female alike. One guy described it as "bad to the bone," and another said that many people will beg me for rides. I don't blame them if they do.

-I have yet to floor it. Near my grandma's house, there are plenty of straight, level roads next to fields... That 0-60 timer is just begging for it (on which the previous owner set a record of 6.7 seconds)

-I'm glad that the previous owner took off the resonators. If not, I would want to drive it about 30% less.

-Cold starts let it growl, but warm starts must it a bit.

-Between idle and 1500 RPM is the classic chambered muscle car sound.

-1500-2000 RPM, as mentioned, is nothing but bass.

-2000-2500 RPM is a somewhat subdued growl.

-I dislike that there is a rev limiter in park/neutral at 4000 RPM, but it's obviously there to protect the engine. Ironically, the HEMI sounds the best only when over 4000.

Get a Tuner and get it faster and rev higher.

What does one of those go for? Any serious damage to the engine if I rev it over 4000?

6.7 seems sluggish for a V8 pony car. The hell, Dodge?

The automatic 5.7 has a 4k limiter in park. I'm about to find out if it does in neutral...

This is impressive and rather smart. Looking back on it now it was a good thing that I had a slow car in high school because even when I wanted to fool around or go fast I couldn't really go too fast. Your restraint could save your car and your life especially when you are relatively inexperienced as a new driver.

It should go about 5.6. The previous owner could've been 90 years old for all we know.

Wow rev limiter at 4000rpm, that is crazy. the Honda engines I'm used to don't even get out of bed until you get them over 4000rpm.

While moving, 5800. Because it's not facing out of the garage, I don't want to risk seeing what it does while I stand on the brake and rev it.

For my Mustang it was about $400 but that was from a specialty stang site. Here is the Tuner for your car but you will have to find someone to get you a tune for it. I'll look for maybe a specialty Dodge site with the Tuners.

4000 RPM rev limiter?!?! WAT?

Engines like to be wrung out, Hemi no exception.

2nd thought, shouldn't the R/T be well below 6.7 seconds to 60? That's slower than your average hot hatch, considerably.

I don't want to go overboard with power, probably no more than 450. All I want is to remove the park/neutral rev limiter removed.

Kinja'd!!! Cherry_man1 > traderQAMobileTestAutomationMobileBoostOn
04/02/2015 at 12:23

You may be able to bypass it by putting it in low and reving it my Mustang is rev happy so I can take it to redline in park

Of course not, but don't ever do it when the motor's cold and for longer than a second or two.

And by that I mean, let the oil temp come up. Big difference from the water temp. Aka, you'll need to drive it 10-15 mins first.

lol, i'm just being a dick, congrats on the car. I saw one at the shop the shop yesterday getting an inspection stick. they really do sound amazing. I can;t believe how big they are. The guy working on the car was short and the wheels pretty much went up to his chest.

Low is just another form of Drive. Putting it in Low and hitting the gas will cause the car to...yknow...drive off.

There is nothing you can do about the brakes squeaking, it's something that all Chrysler products seems to have.

Holding the brake and revving to 4k or more would be called a burnout.
